Frontier Institute of Science and Technology (FIST),Xi'an Jiaotong University(XJTU) sincerely invites talents from all over the world to join and create a new promising future together.

FIST- the pioneer of personnel system reform. As the first academic special zone to carry out the reform of personnel system among colleges and universities in China, FIST has been vigorously exploring the reform on personnel management system and talents evaluation system, implementing the independent Principle Investigator (PI) system in line with international standards and the "Four Orientations" goal-oriented scientific research team system. FIST has gathered a group of national major talent projectswinners, highly cited scientists and provincial and ministerial talents, which accounts for over 40% of all faculty members. Therefore, FIST has been awarded the honorary title of "National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talents" by the Organization Department of the Central Committee, the Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

FIST - a platform for interdisciplinary integration. As one of the reform pioneers of interdisciplinary research in domestic universities, FIST adheres to the concept of "major original innovations sprout from profound basic research and arise from interdisciplinary fields", and strives to create a "multi-cross, multi-integration" top-class discipline platform, enabling each faculty enjoy complete freedom of academic development, take the initiative and show their creativity. FIST has been internally and internationally recognized for its outstanding achievements in national scientific research projects, national science and technology awards, and papers in international top journals such as Nature and Science, and industrialization of major achievements.

FIST - the starting point for future dreams to spread their wings. With the mission of building XJTU into a world-class university, FIST is the core carrier of interdisciplinary disciplines, an incubator for emerging disciplines, a reservoir for talents introduction, and an experimental field for personnel reform under the new situation. On the basis of the present interdisciplinary scientific research platform, FIST will focus on frontier energy, frontier electronics, medical-engineering, basic innovation and other interdisciplinary fields, carry out interdisciplinary basic research, and create a highland for innovative talent training and future technology research, directing the development of future disciplines.

I. Interested Research Areas

1. Frontier Electronic Field

For carbon neutralization and carbon peak, we will focus on energy materials, energy chemistry, energy storage devices and other research directions, carry out interdisciplinary research, and seek the candidates in the fields of energy, chemistry, materials and other related areas.

Direction 1: Energy Materials

Carry out research on electrochemical energy materials, photoelectric, thermoelectric, magnetoelectric, energy storage phase change and other energy conversion materials, energy catalytic materials, energy electrical materials, etc.

Direction 2: Energy Chemistry

Carry out research on hydrogen energy chemistry, biomass energy chemistry, chemical conversion mechanism of energy, conversion between energy carrying chemicals, etc.

Direction 3: Energy Storage Devices and Applications

Carry out research on energy chemistry and devices in deep space, deep sea, deep earth and extreme environment, supercapacitor technology, advanced battery technology, application of energy storage devices, etc.

2.Frontier Electronic Field

In the frontier electronic field of the post-Moore era, we will focus on the research directions of key electronic materials, new semiconductor chip manufacturing processes, flexible electronic devices and systems, carry out interdisciplinary research, andseek the candidates in the fields of electronic information, materials, chemistry, mechanics, engineering and other related areas.

Direction 1: Key Electronic Materials

Conduct the research and development of key materials for chip manufacturing process, key materials for chips and sensors, and carry out the research on molecular magnetic materials, low-dimensional materials and quantum materials, printed electronic materials and their inking technology.

Direction 2: New Semiconductor Chip Manufacturing Process

Conduct the research and development of semiconductor manufacturing process technology, emerging electronic printing technology, mass transfer technology, heterogeneous integration technology, interconnect technology, and carry out the research on chip packaging and thermal management technology.

Direction 3: Flexible Electronic Devices and Systems

Conduct the research and development of flexible display and smart window technology, wearable electronic technology, implantable electronic technology, smart skin and electronic skin technology, and carry out the research on flexible electronic integrated control, human-robot-electronic device fusion and interaction.

3. Medical Engineering

For people's life and health, we focus on the research of brain science, tumor immunotherapy, synthetic biology, high-end medical materials and medical devices, seek the candidates in brain science, biomedicine, tissue engineering, metabolic engineering, gene editing, electronic information, robotics and other related fields.

Direction 1: Brain Science

Carry out brain mapping, brain function mapping and brain-computer interface technology, neural signal control interface technology, biologically responsive magnetic resonance contrast agents and molecular and cellular neuroimaging techniques, minimally invasive neural electrodes and its neural prosthesis and motion compensation technology.

Direction 2: Tumor Immunotherapy

Carry out the research and development of adoptive T cell therapy, tumor immunotherapy antibody drugs, develop new tumor immunotherapy technologies based on gene editing, tumor vaccines and cellular immunotherapy technologies based on tumor neoantigens.

Direction 3: Synthetic Biology

Carry out the research on synthetic biology biosensors for biomacromolecule detection, design and construction of cell factories based on directed evolution technology.

Direction 4: High-end Medical Materials and Medical Devices

Conduct the research and development of advanced medical diagnostic equipment and medical devices, develop medical robots, intelligent prostheses, biological materials, artificial tissues and artificial organs for diagnosis, treatment and repair, develop plasma medical devices, wearable medical devices, implantable medical devices and cells/tissues/organs/microfluidic chips and analytical instruments

4. Frontier Basic Fields

Focus on but not limited to intelligent materials, precision chemistry and other fields, carry out interdisciplinary basic theory and cutting-edge technology research, and seek the candidates in the fields of basic disciplines and engineering such as materials, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.

Direction 1: The field of smart materials

Carry out research on smart materials, bionic materials, composite materials, metamaterials, magnetic functional materials, etc., develop flexible and soft robotics technologies; carry out research in the fields of material computing and artificial material design.

Direction 2: Intersection of Chemistry and Physics

Carry out basic research on surface interface, fluid manipulation, biomimetic catalysis, AI chemistry, functional polymer chemistry, functional coordination chemistry, continuous flow chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical nitrogen fixation and transformation, carbon dioxide chemical transformation and other related research.

II. Positions and Salary

1. Leading Scholars

An eligible candidate for Leading Scholar positions should be a person of high integrity, an internationally renowned scientist and established leader in his/her field, with the ability and willing to build his/her center in the field of emerging disciplines or lead our present centers into an internationally recognized center of excellence.

2. Top Young Talents (Full-time)

There are two kinds of positions for Top Young Talents: Professors and Distinguished Associate Professors.

Qualification for Professors:

• Hold a PhD degree

• Under the age of 40 (including 40)

• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork skills

• Have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and have the capacity to develop into leaders in their fields

Qualification for Distinguished Associate Professors:

• Hold a PhD degree

• Under the age of 36 (including 36)

• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork skills

• Demonstrate strong potential for outstanding accomplishments in research.

The applicants can join our present teams or establish new research teams based on their research fields or on their own will.

1.Performance distribution plus income from transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

2.The candidates who are selected into Siyuan Scholar Talents Plan can get extra bonus.

2.Those who have passed the mid-term assessment can get individual subsidy of no more than 100,000 CNY/year from their start-up fund in the second half of the contract period.

Distinguished Associate Professors

300,000 CNY/year

300,000 CNY (after tax).
