Place: A306, 1 West Building, Qujiang Campus

Speaker: Prof. Yonghua Rong

Brief Bio of Speaker:
Yonghua Rong, born in August, 1950, is a professor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He graduated from University of Science and Technology Beijing, majoring in Metal Physics. Prof. Rong, as a senior visiting scholar in Lehigh University in USA, studied Inconel 718 alloy by TEM from 1994 to 1995. He authored a Chinese textbook of Introduction to Analytical Electron Microscopy (Higher Education Press in 2006)for graduates and an English monograph of Characterization of Microstructures by Analytical Electron Microscopy (AEM)(Higher Education Press and Springer in2012), and co-authored a Chinese textbook of Fundamentals of Materials Science (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, Third Edition in 2010)and Microstructural Characterization of Materials (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press in 2012) for undergraduates.

Prof. Rong has published more than 100 SCI papers. He and his co-researchers developed three new methods on the precise determination of electron beam direction and determination of local stacking fault probability in FCC crystals by diffraction spot shift as well as on X-ray peak-shift determination of average fault probability in alloys.
